CRTPO Board approved approximately $3.3 million to fund a transportation planning project, intersections and sidewalk improvements across the region
The CRTPO Board approved $3.3 million following the annual 2021 spring call for existing discretionary projects that have experienced a funding shortfall at its June 16, 2021 meeting. The Project Oversight Committee (POC) reviewed the project submittals and validated that projects were scored appropriately and qualified for discretionary project funds based upon CRTPO’s Discretionary Funds Policy Guide.
CRTPO Board approved approximately $7.9 million to supplemental maintenance funded projects in Iredell, Mecklenburg and Union counties
The CRTPO Board approved $7.9 million from a COVID relief bill (HIP-CRRSAA) that was enacted by Congress in December 2020. The purpose of the Act is to address coronavirus disease 2019 impacts related to Highway Infrastructure Programs. The spirit of the Act is to get people back to work quickly. The CRTPO received $7,949,000 based on factors such as population share and lane miles.
Projects will be on various routes with various maintenance activities in Iredell, Mecklenburg, and Union counties. Projects will include, but are not limited to, resurfacing, traffic signal loop replacement, pavement restriping and traffic signal upgrades. These maintenance projects are scheduled to start in 2022.
