Coalition Launched January 29, 2025
The Beyond 77 Coalition (the Coalition) serves as a subcommittee of the CRTPO Policy Board. The Coalition’s purpose is to provide the Board with recommendations from the Beyond 77 Final Report that will improve mobility in the areas surrounding the I-77 corridor. This will be accomplished by offering a comprehensive list of short-, medium-, and long-term Strategies and Solutions (S&S).
The Coalition will position jurisdictions along the I‑77 corridor to pursue a unified, long‑range transportation vision, coordinating planning efforts and guiding regional dialogue to maximize future funding opportunities and strategic investment.
Beyond 77 Timeline
The Beyond 77 Corridor Study began in 2019, with a final report adoption by the CRTPO Board in 2022.
Staff continues to move this project forward by reviewing the Strategies & Solutions with the launch of the coalition.

Goals of the Coalition
Alternative Funding

alternatives along the I-77 corridor.

mobility in the entire Charlotte region.
Strategies and Solutions
Recommend implementation of
the B77 Strategies & Solutions and related mobility
investments in the study area to the
CRTPO Board.
Coalition Activities
The CRTPO staff is collaborating with a consultant to identify areas of overlap in transit recommendations between the Beyond 77 and CONNECT Beyond programs. This effort aims to:
- Align the recommendations from the Beyond 77 and CONNECT Beyond plans with the 2055 MTP Goals & Objectives.
- Provide a framework for upcoming research that will assist the CRTPO in prioritizing implementation efforts.
The Coalition will meet quarterly. The exact dates and times will be confirmed at least four weeks ahead of the meeting date. The Launch will have in-person attendance only and include both Executive and Advisory Committee members. The CRTPO anticipates subsequent meetings being offered in a hybrid format, with in-person and virtual attendance options.

This online application is to allow planners, decision makers, and the general public to interact with each of the proposed recommendations – providing expanded detail on estimated cost, coordination, and the communities each serves.
Funding Alternative Strategies Tool (FAST)
This online application is to explore short-term funding alternative strategies across multiple counties within the North Carolina portion of the Charlotte metropolitan area.
The next phase of the Beyond 77 implementation process will involve the creation of a coalition consisting of stakeholders throughout the corridor that will be focused on the high-priority strategies and solutions from the study.
