Working Together to Make Our Roads Safer
In 2024, our region experienced thousands of crashes resulting in injuries, serious injuries, and loss of life. Behind every number is a person—a neighbor, family member, friend, or coworker.
CRTPO is committed to creating a transportation system where safety is a priority for everyone.
The Comprehensive Safety Action Plan will use crash data, community feedback, and transportation expertise to identify strategies that address the most significant safety challenges facing our region.
What Is the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan?
The Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP) is a regional effort to better understand where and why serious crashes happen and identify projects, policies, and programs that can be implemented to improve safety.
The plan focuses on reducing fatal and serious injury crashes for all roadway users, including:

Drivers

Passengers

Pedestrians

Cyclists

Transit Riders

People of all ages and abilities
Through data analysis and community engagement, CRTPO will develop recommendations that help make streets safer today and into the future.
