Regional Online Mapping
CRTPO’s new on-line mapping platform allows visitors to view many data layers simultaneously and “toggle” layers on or off, as desired. Additionally, the on-line platform provides a venue to view data across much of the Metrolina Region, including the Gaston-Cleveland-Lincoln and Cabarrus-Rowan MPOs. Please click the image above to access our on-line mapping.

Comprehensive Transportation Plan
The virtual CTP map will allow you to explore each of the Highway, Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Public Transportation & Rail modes, as well as pending and approved amendments to the CTP since its original adoption.
The Comprehensive Transportation Plan replaced the Thoroughfare Plan.

Welcome to the Bicycle Suitability Map for the CRTPO Region. Bicycling is an economical, environmentally sound, and fun way to get around. This map was developed to give recreational and commuting cyclists region-wide roadway suitability information for the greater Charlotte area.
Thoroughfare Plan
A Thoroughfare Plan provides a functional hierarchy of major streets that permits travel between origins and destinations. The thoroughfare plan become an element of Comprehensive Transportation Plan, a concept developed by NCDOT that includes transit, bicycle and pedestrian modes.
CRTPO’s most recent Thoroughfare Plan update occurred in November 2004. The Thoroughfare Plan was replaced by the Comprehensive Transportation Plan.
CRTPO Planning Area
The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Charlotte Urbanized Area. Due to the growth of the Charlotte Urbanized Area, and the subsequent expansion of the MPO planning area boundary, the CRTPO was established in place of the former Mecklenburg-Union MPO.
Urbanized Area (UZA)
A census classification for areas having a population of 50,000 or more which meets certain population density requirements. This map shares the Charlotte Urbanized area as of 2010.
Metrolina Air Quality Maintenance Area
This map shows the extent of the Air Quality Maintenance Area.
GIS
A geographic information system (GIS) is a system that creates, manages, analyzes, and maps all types of data. GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data (where things are) with all types of descriptive information (what things are like there). GIS helps users understand patterns, relationships, and geographic context. On this page you will find GIS data and resources.
The links below will direct you to GIS resources for our planning region. These websites are not maintained by the CRTPO and any questions about the data should be directed to the host organization.
